Police investigate home invasion robbery

POSTED July 19, 2011 9:47 p.m.

A man who thought he was getting a visit from an acquaintance instead became the victim of a home invasion robbery Tuesday morning.

The victim was not injured, but was bound up during the robbery, said Turlock Police Investigations Sgt. Russell Holeman.

Turlock police detectives have two suspects in custody and are searching for two other individuals, Holeman said. None of the names were released because the investigation is ongoing.

The home invasion robbery was reported just before 3 a.m. Tuesday at an apartment in the 300 block of Clifford Avenue.

The victim told the investigators that a woman he knew showed up at his home and that he let her inside. She left the door unlocked and it wasn’t very long after her arrival that two men burst through the door armed with handguns, Holeman said.

The suspects tied up the victim and ransacked his home, taking some of his property.

After contacting the police, the victim was able to lead investigators to the woman’s residence. Because handguns were used in the robbery, the Special Weapons and Tactics squad was used to serve a search warrant, Holeman said.

Investigators detained four people at the home. Two individuals were released and a man and a woman were arrested for the home invasion. Investigators have identified two other suspects they believe participated in the robbery and are actively searching for them.
