Freshman student Kristy Long unpacks as her mother, Alex, helps her hang clothes.

POSTED September 4, 2009 11:09 p.m.
On Friday morning students at CSU Stanislaus greeted the upcoming school year with an age-old tradition, dormitory move-in day. Students and their families unloaded cars, trucks and SUVs at the CSU Stanislaus Village dorms with the help of volunteer movers.
Students unpacked and got aquatinted with their roommates as their parents lingered in the Phase 1 freshman dorms, not quite ready to say good-bye. After the resident and family welcome dinner, parents said farewell to their students, hoping to see them again some time before Thanksgiving. Freshmen and new Village residents returned to their rooms to start the beginning of their life as college students and (mostly) independent adults.
