Stanislaus volleyball adds talent

POSTED August 2, 2011 11:00 p.m.

With less than two weeks before the start of double-days to prepare for the upcoming season, coach Christina Lore introduced some of the new faces joining the Cal State Stanislaus volleyball team in 2011.
A key addition to the team, who signed a national letter of intent in the spring, is freshman Jacqueline Moore-DesLauriers. Moore-DesLauriers was a two-year varsity starter at Mission Hills High in San Marcos, where she averaged 11 kills and seven blocks as the middle hitter/blocker. She was named one of San Diego Country's top blockers and was an all-league honorable mention pick.
Also joining the Warriors is junior college transfer Madison Moss of Long Beach. Moss was on the two-time conference champion Cypress College team, helping her to become a two-time second-team all-conference defensive specialist. Moss went to Lakewood High and was part of the 2007 state championship team.

“I am extremely excited about the entire team that I have coming into the 2011 season,” stated Lore, who’s in her seventh season as the Warriors coach. “I have had an outstanding group of student-athletes these past two years and look forward to rounding out their talent with the incoming student-athletes.”

Other newcomers include outside hitter Kayla Giles (Troy University of Alabama), rightside Brittany Malone (William Jessup) and defensive specialist Lainey Gordon (Menlo College). Kaitlyn Ladao rounds out the new Warriors group as a freshman walk-on from Jackson, Wyo.
The Warriors will be led by all-conference player Lianne Vicchio, a senior outside hitter, with a supporting cast that includes setter Jessica Lehner, middle hitter Melissa Bishop and hitters Eva Chafeh, Andrea Fett, Denair High graduate Janay Bankston and Jennifer Marsh. Lauren Charles will anchor the back row with returners Sarah Blume and Jaclyn Pinasco.

“My team this year is older and more seasoned and hungry to win,” Lore said. “It should be an exciting year for all of our fans to come out and watch Warriors volleyball compete this year in one of the toughest Division II conferences in the nation.”
Stanislaus opens the season with three scrimmages in late August, with its first regular season home match set for Sept. 7 against William Jessup.
