Mendonca returns to Modesto for playoffs

Turlock High graduate Tom Mendonca will be close to home once again, as his Bakersfield Blaze will open the North Division playoffs against the Modesto Nuts at John Thurman Field starting today at 7:05 p.m. in the best-of-three series.
Mendonca, who was drafted in the second round of the summer’s MLB Draft out of Fresno State, was promoted to the Blaze from the Spokane Indians, the entry team in the Texas Rangers organization.
