Sarment is in eighth-grade at Hilmar Middle School. He has been a Scout in Troop 21 of Turlock for three years. This project, which was completed in mid-March, was his last step to becoming an Eagle Scout.
“I just did it so It’s pretty exciting,” Sarment said.
Sarment said that the sealant, paint, and other materials used to complete the project were all donated. As part of the project Sarment had to get permission from the City of Turlock to work on the play area, get donations, and organize volunteers.
Sarment said that it felt good to make Eagle Scout at such a young age, since many young men don’t achieve the rank at all. Scouts have until their 18th birthday to make Eagle Scout.
