POSTED September 11, 2009 9:52 p.m.
The Turlock Police Department is investigating a suspicious incident that involved a 13-year-old boy escaping a possible kidnapper.
The boy was able to get away unharmed, but the suspect remains at large.
According to the police report, the boy was walking through an alley between High and Locust streets around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, when he was approached by a Latino man in a pickup truck.
The man pulled the truck up alongside the boy and told him that he was a friend of the family’s and offered him a ride home, Officer Christina Magana said.
The 13-year-old got into the truck with the male subject, who then immediately locked the doors. The boy became scared, unlocked his door, and ran away, Magana said.
The suspect was described as a Latino man about 35 to 40 years old, and wearing a black 49ers baseball hat. The vehicle was described to be an early 1990s pickup truck, blue in color. It had an extended cab, black rims, gray interior and a tan dash cover.
The teen’s family was contacted and they advised the officers that they do not know anyone who matches the description given or anyone who owns a vehicle similar to the one described. The Turlock Police Department is asking anyone who may have any information on this incident to contact Sgt. Russell Holeman at 668-5550 ext. 6622.
