Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Turlock First Ward made a quilt for the first baby born on Christmas Day at Emanuel Medical Center.

POSTED December 20, 2011 10:08 p.m.

Young members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Turlock First Ward spread Christmas cheer at the Emanuel Medical Center Mary Stuart Rogers Birthing Center on Tuesday. The girls, ages 8 to 11, quilted a blanket to give to the first baby born on Christmas Day. The blanket included a card that said “tied with loving hands and bound with tender care.” Their blanket was part of a service project for their Activity Day girls’ group. They presented the blanket to Roberta Walker, manager of obstetrics at Emanuel Medical Center, and were given a tour of the birthing center and a peek into the nursery.
