The search for a missing 14-year-old Livingston girl continues, though authorities now believe she left her family’s ranch voluntarily with her 17-year-old boyfriend.

The Merced County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to actively search for 14-year-old Sarah Wade because she is considered “at risk” based on statements she has made about committing suicide.

Wade was last seen at her home at 11933 W. Rose Ave. in Livingston around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. She went out to give her horses water, accompanied by her dog. The dog returned back to the house, but Wade never did.

The family searched the property until 10 p.m. and then called the sheriff’s department.

All of Wade’s personal items were in her bedroom at the time of her disappearance. She does not have a cell phone, sheriff spokesman Deputy Tom MacKenzie said.

Investigators were checking her computer for any information on her possible whereabouts. Late Thursday night detectives developed a lead that Wade may have left the ranch of her own accord and might be with her boyfriend, 17-year-old Christian Graham of Turlock.

Graham has also gone missing, MacKenzie said.

Prior to this lead, the sheriff’s department had brought in a helicopter and a bloodhound to assist in the search for Wade. The bloodhound tracked Wade’s scent to the edge of the road, leading investigators to believe she got into a vehicle at that point.

Investigators believe the pair is getting help from their friends because they do not have a vehicle or money. Detectives have been tracing their trail from Livingston to Turlock and Modesto.

“We would like to remind anyone helping them that they are breaking the law however good their intentions might be, as well as putting Sarah at continued risk because of the statements she has made,” MacKenzie said.

Wade’s family said she is home-schooled and doesn’t leave the ranch on a regular basis.

Wade is described as standing 5 feet, 5 inches tall and about 120 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.

Graham is 5 feet, 5 inches tall and 150 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about the teens’ whereabouts is asked to contact the sheriff’s department at 385-7445.
