Burglary suspects apprehended

POSTED March 27, 2012 11:18 p.m.

The plan to break-in to a Turlock home and make off with the belongings went awry for three suspects when their caper ended with them all in handcuffs.

The burglary was reported around 10:30 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 1200 block of West Avenue South.

A pickup pulled up next to the residence and two suspects were seen climbing through a window, which was when the Turlock Police Department was contacted.

The driver of the truck, 25-year-old Roberto Barrajas, tried to drive away as the patrol cars approached, but was stopped and taken into custody, according to the police department.

One suspect, identified as Antonio Delatorre, 22, tried to make his escape by crashing through a back screen door, but his attempt was futile because officers were waiting for him in the back yard.

The third suspect, Emanuel Lopez, 29, came out the front door carrying a bundle of purloined items and spotting the police presence promptly bolted back inside the residence, where he was apprehended.

All the property was returned to the rightful owners.

The three men were arrested on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy, probation violations and possession of a stolen handgun, which according to the police report, they tried to hide inside the home.
