Visitors to Fire Station No. 1 get an up close look at a fire engine on Sunday.

Over 200 volunteers participated in the 2009 Turlock Shines clean-up day on Saturday. They picked up trash along roadways and were also dispatched to the homes of Turlock senior citizens to help with yard work and minor outside repairs.

The Turlock City Fire Department hosted an open house Sunday to kick-off national fire prevention week. Attendees got the chance to inspect the fire trucks, tour the museum, learn about fire prevention and safety and hear a performance by the Turlock Police and Fire Pipe Band.
