POSTED May 1, 2012 10:31 p.m.

Conference competition has ended for Turlock and Pitman High’s swim teams with Saturday’s conclusion to the 2012 CCC Conference Meet. Pitman’s girls were the big winners between the cross-town rivals, finishing second in the meet and second overall in the Central California Conference.

“We are very proud of them, the girls exceeded our expectations,” Pitman’s girls head coach Michaela Solario said.

Pitman’s boys weren’t too far behind, placing second at the meet and finishing in third place overall in the CCC.

Turlock’s girls finished fourth at the meet and landed in third in the CCC standings, while the Bulldog boys placed sixth in both the meet and overall standings.

“We knew we’d be competitive and be in the upper end of the pack,” Turlock’s girls head coach Sonja Raynes said. “I was pleased to see the younger ladies step up and do well.”

In addition to a second place finish, Pitman’s girls also broke the CCC record in the Medley Relay and Hailee Baldwin broke into the top 10 of all time in the CCC for the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Breast Stroke.

Turlock and Pitman will each be sending 11 swimmers to the Section Trials which will be held on May 10-11.

Hailee Baldwin, Kamarin Waite, and Leanna Jasek- Rysdahl will represent Pitman’s girls and Quinten Day, Max Rodriguez, Simon Staley, Zach Hazelwood, Tyler Jamieson, Jullien McClellan, Cameron Sondeno, and Gavin Madrigal will represent the boys.

As for Turlock, Amanda Bailey, Hailey Raynes, Christine Gotegruth, Rebekah Gotegruth, Ana Visf, and Taylor Tilby will represent the girls and Joel Carlson, Hunter Mangrum, Patrick O’Connor, Garrett Roof, and Mathew Walting will represent the boys.

“I have a few swimmers I believe will final in their events so the whole team is excited to see how that goes,” Solario said.

“They have great attitudes,” Raynes said of her team. “They want to do well for themselves and their schools.”
