A Turlock man was found guilty of drug possession following a five-day jury trial.
Urbano Chavez, 48, was convicted of possession of methamphetamine, according to the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office.
Agents with the Merced Narcotics Task Force served a search warrant on Feb. 20, 2007, at the home of Chavez in Turlock. In the home, agents found five grams of methamphetamine located in a sock on the kitchen table as well as less than a gram of methamphetamine on a television stand in the master bedroom., according to the prosecution.
In addition, a digital scale and plastic bags for packaging methamphetamine were found. In the master bedroom, agents found a 9mm handgun and over $11,000 in cash.  A sawed-off shotgun was found in a second bedroom.    
Upon receiving the guilty verdict, Judge Marie Sovey Silveira scheduled a sentencing  hearing on Nov. 5. Chavez faces a maximum of three years in state prison.
