Christmas in July at the Stanislaus County Fair

POSTED July 11, 2012 3:08 p.m.

It’s Christmas in July at the Stanislaus County Fair with The Salvation Army’s toy drive.

On July 19, The Salvation Army is holding a toy drive at the fair gates. Fair guests who donate two or more toys will receive two free carnival ride tickets from Butler Amusements. All donations will help local children receive gifts for Christmas this year.

“The fair is about families and children. We must, as an organization, help those in need and make Christmas a special time for our children in the community,” said Adrenna Alkhas, spokesperson for the fair. “We are happy to be a part of a great cause.”

No donation is too small for The Salvation Army. Every donation will help give toys to children during Christmas. In 2011, the Modesto Citadel received 11,109 toys and distributed to 3,703 children with three toys per child.  The Turlock Corp received 10,000 toys and was able to distribute two toys per child. If a guest forgets to bring a toy, but still wants to donate, the fair has vendors that sell toys.

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the Universal Christian Church. It is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
