Local talent to light up community stage

Local square dancers will be in the spotlight on the fair’s Health Plan of San Joaquin Community Stage at 8 p.m. July 17.

County fairs are a great place to indulge fried food fancies, experience the thrills of loop-de-loop rides and see first-hand the agricultural backbone of the community.

The Stanislaus County Fair also wants to be known as a place to see and hear local talent. With that in mind, fair organizers have booked a bevy of acts ready to dance, sing and generally entertain the crowds that will gather around the community stage.

Sponsored by Health Plan of San Joaquin, the community stage will feature acts that hail from the Central Valley.

“The community stage is a great way to emphasize and celebrate the local entertainment we have here and showcase them for our fairgoers,” said Adrenna Alkhas, fair spokesperson.

The entertainment line-up for the community stage ranges from Christian-based groups and country crooners to square dancers and blues bands.

“We’ve selected a variety of performers that will cater to the different demographics coming into the fair,” Alkhas said. “People can see the acts that appeal to them, plus maybe get introduced to something new.”

The Health Plan of San Joaquin community stage line-up is:

Never 2 Late at 6 p.m. July 13; Joshua Paige at 8 p.m. July 13; Gotcha Covered at 6 p.m. July 14; Chris Creek band at 8 p.m. July 14; Carpe Diem at 6 p.m. July 15; Anthem of Grace at 8 p.m. July 15; Trade Winds Dance at 8 p.m. July 16; Carousel Cloggers at 6 p.m. July 17; Square Dancers at 8 p.m. July 17; River Rising Band at 8 p.m. July 18; The Epic Kids at 6 p.m. July 19; Mars Hill Revisited at 6 p.m. July 20; Andromeda Project at 8 p.m. July 20; Mira Fuentes at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. July 21; Juke Joint Jokers at 6 p.m. July 21; The Second Tradition at 8 p.m. July 21; Nevin Lemos at 3:30 p.m. July 22; and Olivia Esquivez at 6 p.m. July 22.
