Hit and run suspect injures teenager

POSTED October 23, 2009 9:23 p.m.
A 13-year-old boy is recovering from his injuries after being hit and dragged underneath a car that fled the area, leaving him bleeding in the street.
The boy sustained a severe laceration to his head and several other cuts and minor injuries all over his body, said Turlock Police Lt. Ron Reid.
The boy was taken to a local hospital. The injuries, though numerous, were not considered life-threatening, Reid said.
The person behind the wheel of the car is still at large.
The boy was walking across N. Olive Avenue at Fullerton Drive, shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday. The vehicle was headed down Olive when it struck the boy, Reid said.
The collision sent the boy tumbling underneath the car and he was dragged along the roadway for a short distance, Reid said. The driver of the car then sped away.
Witness statements indicate the vehicle was a 2006 or 2007 dark-colored four-door sedan similar to a Chrysler 300c or a Dodge Charger. The vehicle likely has damage to the right front wheel-well area, Reid said.
Anyone with information about the accident or the suspect is asked to contact Turlock Police Officer nicole Rempfer at 668-5550 ext. 6766 or Crime Stoppers at 521-4636. Callers to Crime Stopppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
