Turlock High’s girls tennis team continued its dominance of the Central California Conference on Tuesday, defeating Pitman High 7-2.

The day’s premier match between the Pride’s number one single player, Britney Leon, and the Bulldogs’ number one singles player, Natalia Lima, went to Pitman in straight sets but strong performances from Turlock’s Jillian Temple, Jenna Anderson, Madalin Hillis, Mila Johns, and Lauren Carlson proved to be enough to claim victory.

“They are a team of experienced seniors,” Pitman’s head coach Doug Reimers said of the Bulldogs. “I knew they were tough and very strong.”

Turlock’s number one and three doubles teams of Ana Visa and Nina Thompson-Sargoni and Kayla Gilkinson and Caroline Custilla also notched wins. Pitman’s team of Ruby Hernandez and Alicia Ramirez, cousins on the court, recorded the second win of the day for the Pride.

“Hopefully next time we meet we can show our improvement and give their girls a run for their money,” Reimers said.

The season continues for the two rival teams on Thursday with Pitman facing the always strong Merced High Bears and Turlock facing Buhach Colony High.
