Luigi Brunetti
1914-2009
Luigi “Louie” Brunetti died Oct. 24 in Turlock. His visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, at Deegan Funeral Chapel, 1441 San Joaquin Street in Escalon. His Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Hwy. 120 in Escalon, with his burial following at St. John’s Cemetery.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and friend to many. He will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help anyone in need.
Louie was born August 18, 1914 in Madera. He moved to Italy in 1917 with his father Carlo, mother Carolina and older brother Mario. He was educated in Italy and returned to his beloved America when he was 17 years old. He worked on farms in the Madera and Modesto areas for several years. He met and married the love of his life Rose Pierini in Modesto in 1940. She predeceased him in death after 54 years of marriage.
Louie and Rose lived in Modesto, where he was employed by Modesto Tallow Works. He purchased a small farm in Escalon and moved his family there in 1952. He made friends in Escalon and loved barbecuing for his family and friends. In his earlier years Louie was very active in the Escalon Lions Club, Knights of Columbus and St. Patrick’s Church. He loved his family and enjoyed Italian diners with all of the Brunetti and Pierini family members.
He is survived by his daughter Rosemarie and her husband Gary of Turlock; his son Albert and wife Carol of Bakersfield; his four grandchildren, Michelle (Mark) Boskovich, Teresa (Kendall) Eskew, Allison (Dave) Barr and Neil Sanders; and his two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Claire Boskovich. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. His brother Mario preceded him in death.
