Name of business: Angel Baby

Type of business: Children's boutique

Location: 2802 W. Monte Vista Ave., Turlock

Hours of operation: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Closed Sundays.

History of business: Angel Baby owners Linda and Harvey Galvan combined their two passions to open the boutique children's fashion shop. Linda graduated from UC Berkeley and got a teaching credential and Harvey has a degree in business.

"I've always had a love for children and fashion and my husband is a business major," Linda said. "We felt that Turlock deserved unique products and unforgettable gifts for their sweet little ones."

The store was originally located on Center Street in downtown Turlock, but when their lease was up, the Galvans made the move to Monte Vista Crossings.

Angel Baby will soon be returning to its roots, however, as a second shop will be opening in downtown Turlock before the holidays. The new downtown location will offer all the items currently available at the Monte Vista Crossings location, but will also be adding clothing for tweens, teens and adults.

Business specialty: Angel Baby carries a wide variety of handmade items and hard to find brand names. They have Stride Rite shoes, designer diaper bags by Petunia Pickle Bottom and Santa Cruz surfing fashion from O'Neill. The store also offers strollers, nursery furniture, and baptism gifts and apparel for both boys and girls.

Although Angel Baby specializes in boutique items, the store has weekly discounts such as buy one, get one half off on all clothes every Tuesday and buy one, get one free shoes on Wednesdays.

"I'm trying to make high-end items affordable, catering to the economy," Linda said.
