Chico snaps Stanislaus' 3 game winning streak

POSTED December 31, 2012 4:43 p.m.

Chico State didn't miss many shots and the Warriors were not on target with their field goal tries as the Wildcats came into Fitzpatrick Arena on fire and left Turlock with an 86-48 win on Saturday.
The Wildcats made nearly 57 percent of their shot attempts for the night and were 12 of 22 from beyond the three-point arc as they avenged an earlier loss to the Warriors.
Chico State improved to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association while Stanislaus fell to 4-4 and 1-3 in league play. The loss ended a three-game winning streak for Cal State Stanislaus.
This time, the Warriors didn't have the buzzer-beating game-winner as they did in Chico on Dec. 6. Instead, collectively the Warriors shot just 31 percent for the game and 25 percent in the second half to end the 2012 calendar year.
Chico State took off on a 16-4 run to start the game and expanded that lead to 21, 32-11, with 8:11 to go to eventually took a 39-23 halftime lead.
Rashad Parker had three of his four treys in the first half to lead Chico State as he finished with 15 points. Damario Sims had 13, Amir Carraway 12 while Jordan Semple and Jason Conrad each chipped in 10.
As a team, the Wildcats made six three-pointers in each half to counter the Warriors' 2 of 14 shooting from long range.
Ray Mitchell led Cal State Stanislaus with 13 points with seven of the points came from the free throw line. Sam Marcus had eight points with six assists and two steals. Marcus Walters had the team-high in rebounds with just four as the Warriors were out-rebounded 42-27.
The Warriors will have to turn the page on the year and regroup in the next few days before hosting San Francisco on Friday and Sonoma State on Saturday. Both games start at 7:30 p.m. at Warrior Arena.
