The Stanislaus County Fair is partnering with local classrooms to further agriculture education.
The fair's School Involvement Program, sponsored by Turlock Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee, offers teachers specially developed curriculum kits to assist in instruction about the agricultural industry. Each year a different animal is chosen - and this year it's chickens.
The kits include a book with educational activities and materials to build a chicken for fair display. Activity kits are available April 22 at the fair office located at 900 N. Broadway, Turlock. Kits may be picked up or turned in Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The deadline for projects to be turned in is 5 p.m. June 20. Projects may be turned in before the deadline.
"Every class masterpiece submitted will be on display at the 2013 Stanislaus County Fair," said Laura Moore, exhibits supervisor. "Cash prizes are awarded to classes whose creative chicken are rated superior, good and average by project judges."
