POSTED April 9, 2013 11:30 p.m.

Mix in one part of far-out frames, an over-the top wardrobe, a dash of sparkly platforms, with lots of vocal artistry and one talented tickler of the ivories and you would have the classic sights and sounds of Elton John.

Those classic concerts of the Rocket Man’s rise to stardom in the 1970s will be re-created when the tribute band Elton — The Early Years takes the stage at the Turlock Community Theatre.

The concert, set for April 27, is a benefit show for Castle Air Museum. Proceeds from the event will continue the Castle Air Museum's efforts to maintain a fleet of over 50 aircraft from World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

This is the second benefit show the Turlock Community Theatre has hosted for the museum. The first saw the Eagles tribute band, Hotel California, come to town.

“After the success of our last show, we received many calls asking when the next one was,” said Joe Pruzzo, chief executive officer of the Castle Air Museum. “We’re excited to bring a fantastic Elton John experience to the Valley, and spread awareness of our activities here at Castle.”

Elton – The Early Years is fronted by Kenny Metcalf, who has earned rave reviews for not only his performances of John’s music from the 1970s, but also his unique style. The details of the wardrobe have been meticulously re-created, right down to the placement of rhinestones and sequins. The wardrobe includes John’s iconic Los Angeles Dodgers uniform designed by Bob Mackie and glasses by Ray Winston.

Metcalf performs lead vocals and plays piano. He is backed by seven seasoned musicians decked out in bell-bottoms and sequins.

The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. April 27. Tickets are $20 and $25 and include one free admission to the Castle Air Museum. Tickets can be purchased at www.turlocktheatre.org or at the Turlock Community Theatre box office at 668-1169.
