Dominic Romeo and his University of Notre Dame five-on-five basketball team.

POSTED April 26, 2013 8:34 p.m.

Pitman High alumnus Dominic Romeo has helped lead his basketball team, Romeo Medical Clinic, into tonight’s championship game against the defending champion Sophomores at Holy Cross.

Romeo, a student at the University of Notre Dame, and his team qualified for the Bookstore Basketball Tournament Finale—the largest five-on-five basketball tournament with more than 700 participating teams —with a 21-15 win over Team 315 in the semi-finals on Friday.

“We really played together well as a unit,” Romeo said. “In the second half we came out and played great team defense. The second half was the difference. We came out, played physical defense, started moving on offense, and we passed the ball really well. That ultimately was the difference.”

Romeo Medical Clinic and Team 315 will meet tonight at 7 p.m.

“We just have to keep playing like we’re playing,” Romeo said. “At this point, we’ve kind of forgotten how to lose, so we hope that continues.”
