Bassitt resigns from Workforce Alliance

POSTED May 2, 2013 12:28 p.m.

Bill Bassitt has tendered his resignation as president and chief executive officer of the Stanislaus Economic Development and Workforce Alliance effective Aug. 16.
Bassitt has indicated that he will be returning to the mid-west to be closer to his family while continuing to work in the economic development/workforce arenas, stated the Alliance.
According to Jeff Grover, chairman of the Board of Directors, the Alliance intents to hire Bassitt's replacement before August.
"We are thankful for Bill's leadership in launching the Alliance in 2002 and for all of the successes over the past 11 years," said Grover.
"The Alliance is a very unique organization that represents an unprecedented comprehensive approach to providing economic development and workforce development services to Stanislaus County and its nine cities."
Bassitt said that he is grateful for all of the support he received from the board, the public officials and the business community.
"The Alliance has an excellent board and a talented staff and is well positioned to continue to effectively address the challenges that the community faces. Even though I will be living and working in another part of the country, I will always have an eye on the Central Valley and its leading community. I would like to thank the board for allowing me to work in an organization where every day was gratifying and enjoyable," he said.
Grover will chair the search committee to recruit candidates and choose Bassitt's replacement.
"I am very proud of our accomplishments over the past 11 years as we have grown from a one of a kind novel concept to a nationally recognized leader in workforce and economic development," said Bassitt.
