Temperatures reached well over the triple digit mark on Monday as the 11-year-old Turlock National All-Stars dominated the Los Banos squad in a 5-0 shutout at Soderquist Park.

“I know it was hot out here but they gave it 110 percent and they played very good,” National All-Star head coach Robert Tury said. “It was a team effort; the whole team was doing what we have asked and the kids practiced hard for 10 days and they put it together.”

The National League squad broke the game open early in the bottom of the first when Luke Redman scored the first run after a pass ball. In the second, Redman hit an RBI single to drive in Lance King. The third and fourth runs were scored after Daniel Orosco blasted a two-run stand up double. Ethan Fisher walked in Redman for the fifth and final run in the bottom of the fourth.

“The at-bats were all great and challenging, we had a couple of big hits,” Tury said. “Everyone was hitting and put the bat on the ball; very proud of them and I hope we can continue to play.”

Redman started the game and tossed 1  2/3 innings allowing only two hits and striking out four. Daniel Orosco came in as relief in the second inning with two outs and went two innings, allowing one hit, two strikeouts and walking one. Noah Baltazar finished the game as he pitched 2  1/3 innings shutout innings and allowed only one hit.

“We had to work with our pitching on the number of pitches due to count limit, so we rotated as many pitchers as we could. All around great game, everyone threw strikes and defense made plays when needed,” Tury said.

Redman was 1-for-3 for the game with a walk, and scored three runs. Baltazar went 2-for-4 with a single and double. Orosco went 1-for-3 with a clutch two-run double.

After Monday's win the 11-year-old National All-Stars will move on to face the Turlock American team at 7 p.m. today in the semi-final game at Soderquist.
