POSTED July 8, 2013 4:30 p.m.

4-H Farmyard Experience

Not everyone can live on a farm, but the fair's 4-H Farmyard Experience offers a glimpse into the Valley's agriculture life.

The exhibit highlights many local agricultural products, including dairy, honey and eggs. There will be a bee hive display with live bees and information on how bees produce honey, and an egg display will show quail hatchings.

The highlight of the experience, a petting zoo, will return with baby piglets, cows, goats, and chickens all available for hands-on learning.

The fun doesn’t stop there.  Tot Zone tractors will be available for the kids to ride on and new this year, a potato dig.

The 4-H Farmyard Experience is located in an exhibit building next to the livestock pens in the southwest area of the fairgrounds. It is open  weekdays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and weekends from 12 noon to 10 p.m.

WHEAT now encompasses 125 members throughout California, bringing the heart and soul of Americana into the 21st century by rescuing engines, tractors, equipment and tools related to farming or farm living. WHEAT will have a display at the Stanislaus County Fair in the outdoor area in front of the Commercial Exhibits Building.
