Christmas in July at the fair

Although Christmas is still five months away, the Stanislaus County Fair is getting into the yuletide spirit early with its annual toy drive.

On July 18, Stanislaus County Fair and The Salvation Army are holding a toy drive at the Fair gates. Fair guests who donate two or more toys will receive two carnival ride tickets from Butler Amusements. All donations will help local children receive gifts for Christmas this year.

“The Fair is about making memories for the children in our community.  We must help those in need and make Christmas a special time for our children,” said Adrenna Alkhas, spokesperson for the Fair. “We are happy to be a part of a great cause.”

Last year guests donated more than 3,200 toys for The Salvation Army.  No donation is too small for The Salvation Army. Every donation will help give toys to children during Christmas. In 2012 the Modesto Citadel received 9,165 toys.  The Turlock Corp received 6,000 toys. If a guest forgets to bring a toy, remember the Fair has vendors that sell toys.

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the Universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. It's ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
The Salvation Army is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
