Sutter Health breaks ground on new Turlock patient care center

POSTED July 9, 2013 9:42 p.m.

City and business leaders gathered on Monday to witness the ground breaking of Sutter Gould Medical Center's new 37,000 square foot patient center, set to be located on  the intersection of North Golden State Boulevard and West Christoffersen Parkway in Turlock.

“This new facility gives us the opportunity to be a part of healthcare in a revolutionary and futuristic way,” said Turlock City Council member William DeHart. “The relationship Sutter has with this community runs deep, and it just makes sense for us to be a part of this new collaborative approach to healthcare.”

Set to open in fall of 2014, the new center will offer specialty, pediatric, internal medicine and primary care, as well as laboratory and radiology services

“I’m pleased that we are able to construct a new care center for the residents of Turlock and the surrounding communities,” said Paul DeChant, CEO of Sutter Gould Medical Foundation.  “Providing outpatient and physician services close to home helps foster healthy communities.”

The center, which is expected to accommodate 25-30 physicians, will be replacing Turlock's currently existing 50 year old care center on East Main Street. Providers and services currently offered at the Main Street location will move to the new patient care center when it opens.

Approval for construction of the project came last November, with the Sutter Board of Directors voting unanimously to bring a second facility to Turlock.

City Manager Roy Wasden said the City of Turlock was doing everything it could to ensure a smooth path for the new patient center.

“We worked very closely with Sutter to ensure they had the correct information to make their decision to come to Turlock,” said Wasden. “We want to make sure that they get the best customer service possible.”

Susan Pimentel, spokesperson for Sutter Health, stated that the new facility will help meet both current and future needs of the community.

“The new center will provide the community members of Turlock with a much larger, more convenient and state-of-the-art health facility,” said Pimentel.
