Turlock Police officers captured a home invasion suspect Monday after he allegedly forced his way into a man’s home and stole his wallet and pants.

The suspect was identified by the Turlock Police Department as 35-year-old Curtis Kirby.

The incident was reported at 1:10 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of Ivanhoe Lane.

The homeowner told the police he went into his bedroom to get his chewing tobacco and found a man rifling through his possessions.

Kirby allegedly told the man he had a gun and ordered him onto the ground. He also told the man to hand over his money, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

While the victim was on the floor, Kirby allegedly searched his bedroom and then fled the home with the victim’s wallet and a pair of his pants.

The victim was able to provide police with a detailed description of the suspect and officers conducted a search of the surrounding neighborhoods.

Officers found Kirby, who matched the description provided, in the 1800 block of Fulkerth Road shortly after the search began, Lewis said.

Kirby was positively identified as the home invasion suspect. Additionally, he was found in possession of the wallet and the pants, Lewis said.

No injuries were reported from the home invasion.

Kirby was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on charges of first-degree robbery and burglary. According to the jail records, he is currently out on custody.
