Hughson to fete long-time residents

Hughson Historical Society's 13th annual appreciation night honoring longstanding Hughson citizens will be held Aug. 23 at William C. Hughes Hall at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 7820 Fox Rd., Hughson.

A hosted wine social begins at 6 p.m. followed by a tri-tip and chicken dinner catered by The Branding Iron.

Honorees this year are the Walter and Edith Parks family, the Nathaniel Lenox Tomlinson family, and Bruna Solari Martella.

Highlights of the evening include presentations of the family histories, a silent auction and a raffle. It is a fun filled evening as old friends get together to celebrate shared heritage.

Past honorees include: Della Combs (2002), Marion Doris and Carol Storer (2003), Margaret Sturtevant (2004), Quentin Raynor and Marie Nielsen (2005), John and Barbara Wassum and Don Scranton (2006), Blanche Sheridan (2007), Alfred, Raymond and Albert Baptista (2008), Mary Ann and Everett Aldrich, William and Melba Spears (2009), Mary Margaret Qualle, and the William Smart Matthews family (2010), Walter Biasca, and the George Raymond Little and Joseph Ramos families (2011); and Francis Mary Serpa, Frances and Wendy Noeller, Norma Marie Noeller, and Wilford "Bill" Noeller (2012).

Information regarding the recipients is available at the Historical Society Museum, corner of Sixth and Main streets. The museum is open the first Saturday of each month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Special visitations can be arranged by contacting Jean Henley Hatfield, 883-2483.

Tickets are $30 per person for the dinner and may be obtained from Jean Henley Hatfield, 883-2483 or Tess Camagna, 883-4882. Proceeds go to a scholarship program. A beautiful quilt made by Betty Shweiker will be a raffle prize.
