Stanislaus women's soccer favored to win CCAA

Cal State Stanislaus and UC San Diego, for the third consecutive year, have been selected to win their respective divisions in the upcoming 2013 California Collegiate Athletic Association women's soccer season following a poll of conference head coaches.
The Warriors have also been selected to take home the CCAA Championship banner after receiving six of the coaches' votes. Reigning West Region Champion, UC San Diego followed with three votes for the title, while Sonoma State tallied two votes and Cal State L.A. collected a single vote.
Sonoma State challenged Cal State Stanislaus for the North Division title, but the Warriors held as the favorite after accruing 59 points and nine first-place votes. The Seawolves came in second with 53 points and three first-place coaches' votes. Cal State Monterey Bay was picked to finish third with 38 points, while San Francisco State (31), Cal State East Bay (22), and Humboldt State (13) wrapped up the North rankings.
UC San Diego was selected unanimously for the second time in three years to win the South Division after totaling 61 points and 11 first-place votes. Cal State L.A. followed the Tritons with 42 points and one first-place vote. Cal Poly Pomona garnered 34 points to finish third in voting and Cal State San Bernardino was predicted to finish fourth with 29 points. Chico State (26), and Cal State Dominguez Hills (24) rounded out the South Division.

Eight teams received at least one vote in balloting that predicts which teams will participate in the 2013 Conference Championship Tournament. Cal State Stanislaus, Sonoma State, and UC San Diego led with 11 coaches' votes. Joining the Warriors, Seawolves, and Tritons were Cal State L.A. (7), Cal Poly Pomona (3), Cal State San Bernardino (2), Cal State Dominguez Hills (1), and Chico State (1).
Two CCAA teams begin the 2013 campaign ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Preseason national rankings. UC San Diego, who finished the 2012 season as the NCAA Championship runner-up, debuts at No. 3 and Sonoma State is No. 18.
This season, the 2013 CCAA Championship Tournament will make its return to the campus of Cal State Stanislaus. The eight-team event will be contested Nov. 8-10 at Warrior Stadium. The CCAA Championship format calls for two men's and women's semifinal games to be played on Nov. 8 with the championship contests slated for Nov. 10.
This season's schedule gets underway on Sept. 5, as nine conference teams are in action. All 12 teams are set to begin CCAA on Sept. 13.
