Red Brick gets new look, new hours, new food

The recently renovated Red Brick Bar and Grill not only features several new food options during dinner hours, but also a new dance floor for their late-night customers.

History of Business: What started as a small catering business in 2004, has since transformed into one of Turlock's trendiest night spots.

After successfully running the Two Guys on Broadway catering service for several years, business owners Stephen Backus and Edmund Samo opened their next business venture, Red Brick Café - a restaurant and bar - in 2009. And while the restaurant/bar has done extremely well since its inception, Backus and Samos believed there was still room for improvement, leading to the spot's latest renovations this past month.

"We wanted to go more towards being a steakhouse," said Backus. "With all the new furnishing, we have a brand new look that I think our patrons will really enjoy."

Aside from the new name, the recently revamped Red Brick Bar and Grill has gone through a variety of changes including new food, new hours and a whole new look. The previously overcrowded dance floor and bar area is a thing of the past as a new dance floor has been constructed in the front of the business, now separate from the bar, restaurant and lounge area.

The large outdoor patio in the back of the business also received a complete makeover. The once grassy area scattered with small tables and chairs now features a neatly paved patio complete with large gazebos furnished with couches, helping create an intimate outdoor lounge area for customers.

With the switch to becoming more of a steakhouse type restaurant, Red Brick Bar and Grill is also bringing in an assortment of new dishes.

"We've brought on new steaks, including a 24-ounce T-bone, which is our new signature steak," said Backus. "We're also going to have halibut, scampi, a variety of appetizers, pasta, and all kinds of burgers, including our buffalo burger. There are a lot of new options."

The newly renovated Red Brick Bar and Grill will be holding an official grand reopening from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday.

Business Specialty: Red Brick Bar and Grill holds a mixture of weekly events, such as Ladies' Night every Wednesday evening. This week's Ladies' Night will feature wine tasting from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and a five-dollar salsa dance instruction from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Other weekly events include Thursday night specials, featuring the following specials:
• East Coast shrimp boil, completed with sausage, corn and potatoes (every first Thursday)
• Steak night, followed by cigar and whiskey tasting (every second Thursday)
• Live ‘Cajun style' crawfish night, served with sausage, potatoes and corn (every third Thursday)
• Spaghetti, meatballs and garlic bread (every fourth Thursday)

A strict upscale dress code for men is also enforced, only permitting button-down collared shirts, polo shirts and V-neck t-shirts.
