Bulldogs football handed first loss of season

POSTED September 27, 2013 11:29 p.m.

The Turlock High Bulldogs lost for the first time in five games this year as they visited West Valley High on Friday.

The scoreboard read  7-7 going into the half, but the second half spelled defeat for the ‘Dogs.  In the first drive down the field in the third, on a critical fourth and two, the Eagles were able to stop the Bulldogs at the 50 yard line and that would prove to be the momentum shifter.

The final score read 28-7 as the Eagles' running game was too much to handle as they tacked on three unanswered touchdowns to end the game en route to second half slumber from the ‘Dogs.

“They had a strong running game all day long,” Turlock assistant coach Kenny Valentine said. “It was a game; we had some opportunities but we couldn’t punch it in. With a good team like that you need to be able to convert in every opportunity and we didn’t.”

Next for Turlock will be a bye week, followed by a league matchup at Merced High on Oct. 11, with a starting time of 7 p.m.
