Although four months have passed since the grand opening of the Blue Diamond almond plant in Turlock, the multi-billion dollar company is still looking for local workers to fill a number of open positions.

According to Public Affairs Director Susan Brauner, the Turlock plant currently has 21 open positions for local people to fill.

“We continue to be very happy with the caliber of qualified applicants applying for jobs at the Turlock plant,” said Brauner. “We have hired many local people from the area that had the required two to four years of experience and that have passed the 8-step interview process.”

Working closely with the Stanislaus County Economic Development and Workforce Alliance, Blue Diamond continues to seek local workers by utilizing the Alliance to assist with their hiring process.

“We try to keep the focus within the local community,” said Brauner. “And so far, it is working.”

According to the company’s website, the Turlock plant is seeking seven experienced machine operators, a quality systems technician, fifteen operator technicians for raw and finished goods, and an Environmental, Health and Safety manager.

The 200,000 square foot plant located on Washington Road opened on June 18 as part of the company’s first phase of the three-phase, multi-year plan. As the plant expands to phases two and three, Blue Diamond expects to begin producing its own retail products at the site, which will bring more jobs to the area.

It was expected Blue Diamond would add an approximate 300 positions to the local economy , including about 100 direct jobs, an estimated 123 additional indirect local supplier jobs and 79 jobs from increased consumer spending in the community, according to research from the Stanislaus Economic Development and Workforce Alliance.

Blue Diamond posted record-breaking revenues of more than $1 billion in fiscal year 2011-2012.
