Parole denied for convicted murderer

POSTED December 11, 2009 11:00 p.m.
A Denair man convicted of a 1991 homicide was denied parole Monday from Corcoran State Prison.
The State Board of Parole denied early release for Andrew Lopez based on several factors, including his lack of remorse and his disciplinary record in prison, according to the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office.
Lopez was convicted in 1992 of second degree murder with use of a knife and one prison prior, for a murder at the Denair Community Park on June 25, 1991. According to the district attorney’s office, Lopez stabbed the victim 13 times during the attack. He is serving a prison sentence of 17 years to life. Lopez had previously been denied parole in 2002 and 2005. He  will be scheduled for another hearing in 2013.
