Get ready to vote

POSTED November 1, 2013 11:52 p.m.

Election Day is fast approaching, as voting officials prepare to man their respective booths come Tuesday morning.

The Nov. 5 Stanislaus County Consolidated District Election will include three seats on the Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees – Area 2, Area 4 and Area 6. This year’s election marks the first-ever “trustee area” election, as opposed to an “at large” election system, as the Board approved the final trustee area map in February.

Area 2 will see a race between an incumbent and one challenger, while Area 6 will come down to a vote between two new candidates as incumbent Josh Bernard did not seek reelection. Incumbent and Board President Bob Weaver, who represents Area 4, has a secure seat on the Board as he remained unopposed.

Tuesday's election will include two seats on the Turlock Irrigation District Board of Directors — Division 3 (northwest Turlock and most of Ceres) and Division 5 (south Turlock, north Merced County all the way to the Merced River).

Residents of Denair and Keyes will be voting for representatives to both their respective Community Services District Boards and Municipal Advisory Councils.

County election polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. For more information on voting procedures or to find your voting site, visit stanvote.com.
