University performs José Rivera’s ‘Cloud Tectonics’

California State University, Stanislaus’ Theatre department is performing the dreamlike play “Cloud Tectonics” starting Thursday.

From Obie Award winning acclaimed Puerto Rican playwright José Rivera, “Cloud Tectonics” brings new meaning to a “timeless” love story. Celestina de la Sol is a young woman who claims to be 54 years old and to have been pregnant for two years. When Anibal de la Luna picks up Celestina in a torrential storm, her arrival to his house literally makes the clocks stop, and that’s only where this enchanting and unconventional romance takes off.

Rivera’s script for “Motorcycle Diaries” was nominated for an Academy Award in 2005.

The CSU Stanislaus play is directed by Professor Jere O’Donnell.

Shows are set for 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 16, 21, 22, and 23 and 2 p.m. Nov. 17 and 24. All performances are in the CSU Stanislaus Mainstage Theatre.

Tickets are $10 general admission and $8 for students, seniors and CSU faculty and staff and are available online at Free parking for the event will be available in Lot #2. View maps and directions at
