Runners help Salvation Army with Kettle Dash

Runners of all ages were able to participate in Saturday's Kettle Dash through downtown Turlock.

POSTED November 12, 2013 7:22 p.m.

The Turlock Salvation Army held its third annual Kettle Dash Saturday morning as 255 runners—young and old— flooded downtown Turlock to sweat for a good cause.

Participants had the option to run a 5K or a 10K race through the streets of Turlock. When the event was all said and done, an estimated $9,000 was collected for the Turlock Salvation Army through the fundraiser.

The Salvation Army is hosting its biggest annual event , the "Kettle Kickoff” luncheon, on Tuesday. The event officially kicks off the organization's holiday fundraising effort with the traditional red kettles and bell ringers outside local businesses. The luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Assyrian American Club of Turlock, 2618 N. Golden State Blvd. Tickets are $20 for a single seat, or $175 for a table of 10.
