Fire frequents vacant Turlock home

POSTED January 2, 2014 8:45 p.m.

Turlock fire fighters were once again battling the flames at a vacant home that had previously caught on fire twice in the weeks before, according to the Turlock Fire Department.

The most recent fire at the vacant home at 1425 East Ave. was reported at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Fire crews arrived to find flames and smoke pouring from the home. Bystanders told fire fighters one person was inside the residence and a search was initiated. However, a search of the house revealed it was unoccupied, said TFD Battalion Chief Gary Carlson.

The fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes. Crews remained at the scene for about two hours for full containment and overhaul of the home. A total of 13 TFD personnel responded to the fire.

The cause of the fire is suspicious in nature, Carlson said. The vacant home has been the site of two other fires in the last month.
