Burglary suspect caught after foot chase

POSTED June 30, 2009 9:09 p.m.
A wanted parolee who is the target of several criminal investigations in two counties was apprehended Monday night in Turlock.
Joshua Reynolds, 27, was nabbed after a lengthy foot pursuit that wound its way through several Turlock neighborhoods and over Highway 99, Turlock Police Lt. Ron Reid said.
The Turlock Street Crimes Unit had been looking for Reynolds for a parole violation. An officer spotted Reynolds on Lander Avenue, but Reynolds also saw the officer and jumped into the passenger seat of a friend’s car and the two sped off with several officers in pursuit, Reid said.
Soon after, the friend pulled over and Reynolds jumped out and took off running.
Reid said the foot chase lasted for an extended time, with Reynolds at one point running across Highway 99 into a field. Quickly surrounded, Reid was taken into custody.
Reynolds is a suspect into several burglaries and other crimes in Stanislaus and Merced Counties.
On Dec. 20, 2008, he was arrested on numerous charges after a nine hour standoff with the Special Weapons and Tactics team that ended when the house was tear gassed.
