Turlock High’s reign as the top High School golf squad in the Central California Conference continued on Thursday after the Bulldogs managed to topple the midseason CCC tourney with a 430 score.

Buhach finished second with a 436 and Pitman was third at 438.

“We didn’t play great but we did enough to win. I think the team is focused and ready to put in the time to have a great second half of the season,” Turlock head coach Jason Boswell said.

“Turlock and Buhach are both good teams and anytime we get the opportunity to compete against these two teams we know that we have to shoot our best. Today was not our best,” Pitman head coach Matt Jeans said.

While the Pride managed to top out at third, just three strokes behind Buhach, Jeans and his team know they did not have their best day but will continue improving.

“Any time you are in contention to win and don’t, there’s a letdown,” Jeans said. “Our guys kept saying they could have played better. They have the ability to do so, but today was not our day.”

The best score of the day would come from Turlock’s Teo Chiesa, who shot the low round of 73.

“Teo had the low round of the day which is great. We put ourselves in the driver’s seat and were one point ahead of Buhach in the standings,” Boswell added. “Also Logan Adams and Zevey Lopez played very well today.”

Topping out for the Pride was Evan Schulze who managed to finish the day with a score of 83. All of Pitman’s players shot below 90.

“Although we placed third, I’m still proud of these guys. We have Turlock at TGCC in two weeks. Both teams are excited for the match because they know anything can happen,” Jeans said about their next encounter with Turlock. “Last year we beat them at our place. We will just have to wait to see how the next two matches and the CCC tournament will play out.”
