Spring is in the air and jelly beans are on the shelves of grocery stores across the country which means Easter is fast approaching.

The holiday marks the end of Lent, a 40-day period of reflection and fasting observed by Christian denominations that begins on Ash Wednesday and leads up until Easter. Easter Sunday also marks an important moment for small children: the presence of the Easter Bunny and the time to hunt for eggs filled with candy and goodies. Here is a list of local Easter themed activities.


• Connecting Point Church Easter Egg Hunt

6:45 p.m. tonight. The hunt is geared toward children through the 6 grade. A free dinner for the whole family follows the hunt. The church is located at 3200 E. Monte Vista Avenue in Denair.



• First Presbyterian Church Easter "Eggstravaganza" Event

9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The hunt is geared toward children through the 6 grade. Easter egg hunt and activities presented in a venue where the news of Jesus death and resurrection will be shared. Activities include an Easter egg hunt, puppet show, bounce house, crafts, games, face painting, snacks and prizes. The Church is located at the First Presbyterian Church at 2619 N. Berkeley Ave.



• Eggcitingly Huge Easter Egg Hunt at the Turlock Country Club

 9 a.m. Saturday. Easter egg hunt starts at 9 am, and attendees should bring their own baskets. A buffet will follow for $10.95 for adults and children and reservations are required. The Easter bunny will be present. For reservations call 634-5471.

Buffet menu includes: scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, biscuits and honey butter, French toast sticks, donuts and donut holes, fresh fruit, coffee and juice



• The Rock Church of Turlock Easter Egg Hunt and Brunch

9:15 a.m. Sunday brunch followed by an Easter egg hunt with church service at 10:30 a.m. The church is located at Walnut elementary School, at 4219 North Walnut Ave.
