Turlock High boys’ tennis continued its unbeaten streak Tuesday afternoon with a 7-2 defeat of Golden Valley High — number two in the Central California Conference standings—to extend its record to 9-0 in the CCC.

With just two games remaining in the regular season the Bulldogs look poised to claim this year’s league title as they’ve already beaten their remaining two opponents, Merced and Pitman High, by a combined score of 15-3 .

Turlock’s pair of losses on Tuesday came at the hands of the Cougar’s top singles players, number one Cesar Nava and number two Thomas Becker, who defeated Turlock’s respective number one and two Marco Andres and Ryan Asai.

Nava dispatched Andres in straight sets, 0-6 and 1-6, but Becker had to work for his win over Asai as the match was decided in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, and 2-6.

The Bulldog’s number three singles player, Eilan Shabaz, got the winning started for his team with his win over Golden Valley’s Adrian Garcia in a three-set battle, 3-6, 6-3, and 7-5. The rest of Turlock’s singles team followed suit as Nick Vardeh, Johnny Brenda, and David Lazar also won their matches in straight sets.

As for Turlock’s doubles teams, all three earned straight set victories.

Turlock’s Davis Griffin and Carlos Iniques beat Golden Valley’s Bee Lee and Yee Thao, 6-1 and 6-1, which was followed by Heath Rojas and Alex Lima’s defeat Golden Valley’s Wallison Xiong and Xa Thao, 6-2 and 6-3. Bulldogs Steven Rosas and Angel Lopez ended the day by defeating Golden Valley’s Hann Osborne and Lohin Saelee, 6-3 and 6-3.

After Wednesday’s match against Merced and Thursday’s match against Pitman, both on the road, Turlock will host both CCC singles and doubles Tennis Championships on April 29 and May 1, respectively.
