Turlock High runners made their mark at the Woody Wilson Invitational on Saturday, held at UC Davis, with nine students competing in their respective events.

Over  50 high schools were represented at the meet, Turlock was one of three Central California Conference schools competing, the others being Buhach Colony and Golden Valley, as the Bulldogs fought to beat their personal record times as they prepare for the postseason.

"It was good to get outside of our league and compete, try to PR which is the main focus of these invitationals. I am pleased and happy these kids get to compete in all these events," Turlock head coach Undrae Walker said.

Ryan Weaver of Turlock led the CCC reigning champions into a record breaking day in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:29.30 alongside Jesus Robledo, Adrian Rodriguez and Bryan Montes, three seconds ahead of the second place team of Red Bluff.

Montes had a strong finish, leading most of the race from the start but finished seventh in the boys 300m hurdles with a personal best time of 42.59.

Weaver finished 24th in the 100 meter dash, after feeling drained from the record setting relay race. Rodriguez also competed in the boys 400 dash open and placed fourth with a PR time of 51.80.

Erik Sousa competed in the elbow to elbow 1600 meter, finishing in 27th with a time of 4:49.14. Javi Lara finished 34th in the same race.

"Overall, it was a great day," said Walker.

In the girls 800 meters, Cassie Derdivanis and Raveena Samra finished in 16th and 17th place, respectively.

The Bulldogs next event is the Meet of Champions at American River College in Sacramento on May 3. Pitman High will also compete at the Meet of Champions.
