A high school girl in Modesto escaped two would-be abductors Tuesday afternoon, according to the Modesto Police Department.
The 14-year-old girl was walking home from Davis High School around 3 p.m. Tuesday. She was in the 2500 block of Hemminger Way when she was approached by two men, Detective Steven Stanfield said.
Both of the men attempted to pull the girl into a nearby parked car. She fought against the two men and was able to free herself and run home. She was not injured during the attack.
Investigators suspect the two men were attempting to abduct the girl with the intent of sexually assaulting her.
The first suspect is described as a black male adult, approximately 20 years old, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with brown hair. He was described as having a muscular build, dreadlocks style hair, and wearing a black T-shirt. The second suspect is believed to be a Hispanic male, approximately 20 years old, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with brown hair. He was described as having a slender build and was wearing a white T-shirt at the time of the attack.
The involved vehicle is believed to be a red compact car with after-market black rims and a tinted rear window.
Police have increased patrols around area schools and ask anyone with information about the incident to call Modesto Police or Crime Stoppers. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward. Tipsters can also text information to Crime Stoppers by sending a text message to 274637. Just type “TIP704” along with your message.
