Locals flocked to the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds on Saturday for the Central Valley Brewfest, a one day event that featured beers and hard ciders from both local and out-of-state breweries. The second annual event not only doubled in the number of beers offered from last year, but also in attendance as well.

“When it’s all said and done, the staff and guests totaled 1,200 people,” said Veronica Camp, event coordinator. “I think people were impressed by the improvement in the number of beer selections from last year.”

The Brewfest catered to veteran beer drinkers and new tasters alike with a variety of classic beers as well as new ones, such as the “Shame and Desperation” brew which is the product of a joint venture between local Dust Bowl Brewery and radio personalities Bueller and Brent of Rock 96.7. Created specifically for the event, Bueller and Brent stepped out from behind the microphone to pull the beer for guests themselves – a porter infused with raspberry and coffee provided by Turlock Coffee. “Shame and Desperation” will be available for locals to purchase at Dust Bowl Brewery for a limited time.
