POSTED June 12, 2014 10:36 p.m.

A 3-year-old Turlock boy was rushed by air ambulance to UC Davis Medical Center Thursday night after toppling out of a second story window

The toddler fell an estimated 12 to 15 feet from a second story window, said Turlock Fire Battalion Chief Gary Carlson. American Medical Response paramedics made the decision to take the child to the hospital by air ambulance due to the height of the fall, however, the boy was alert and crying at one point.

The boy’s condition at this time is unknown.

It’s believed the accident happened at a home on Katrina Court in the north section of Turlock. The fall was reported to emergency dispatchers around 8:45 p.m.

It is not known how the toddler happened to fall from the window. Turlock Police will be looking into the circumstances of the incident.

A small crowd of neighbors and passersby stopped to watch as the air ambulance landed in the Christoffersen Basin off Fosberg Road around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, many expressing their horror at the accident and wishing the boy a speedy recovery.
