Turlock officers assaulted during three arrests

POSTED June 12, 2014 10:51 p.m.

Within the last week three Turlock Police officers have suffered injuries of varying degrees at the hands and feet of alleged suspects.

None of the injuries have resulted in serious injuries, said police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

The first incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of S. Broadway. Officers had been called to the scene for a report of a fight outside Red Brick Bar and Grill. Officers found Hoeuy Hamm, 24 and Monceca Kloak, 24, trying to fight with the security guard after being kicked out of the bar for damaging property.

Hoeuy allegedly threw a punch at the security guard, but missed and was grabbed by an officer. As the officer was taking him into custody, Kloak allegedly snuck up behind the officer and kicked him in the groin.

Kloak was then taken into custody and charged with battery on a peace officer. Hoeuy was arrested for assault.

The second assault took place around 3 p.m. Wednesday outside the Family Clothes store at 697 N. Golden State Boulevard. Turlock officers received a report of a robbery-in progress from a security guard, Lewis said.

The security guard told the officer he saw Alberto Godinez head into the Family Clothes store, which he has been barred from because of past thefts. The security guard pulled out his cell phone to record Godinez, at which point Godinez came up and punched him and took the cell phone.

The officer approached Godinez as he was leaving the store, with the phone in hand. As the officer was taking him into custody, Godinez allegedly grabbed the officer’s groin and squeezed, Lewis said.

The officer was able to take control of Godinez and put him in handcuffs.

Godinez was charged with robbery and assault on a peace officer.

The third assault happened just before 11 p.m. Wednesday at the AM/PM at 2015 W. Main Street. An officer was dispatched to the scene for a report of a larceny in progress. The report stated a man, later identified as Robert Mendoza and a woman were seen opening a pack of razors and concealing them, Lewis said.

The officer made contact with the pair before they could leave the store, but Mendoza tried to push by the officer in an attempt to flee.

The officer and the suspect fell to the ground and a fight ensued, Lewis said. Additional officers arrived and help take Mendoza into custody. The officer suffered minor injuries but did not require medical treatment, Lewis said.

Mendoza was charged with resisting arrest, theft and battery of a peace officer causing injury, as well as a probation violation.
