Jessica's House offers Day of Relief

The kids of Jessica's House, a grief support center, create their own super heroes during a summer day camp session.

Jessica’s House hosted a Day of Relief, a summer day camp session for families looking for a brief respite from their grief, on Thursday.

Jessica’s House, operated by EMC Health, is a grief support center geared to children and their families. The center is closed in the summer, so events like the summer day camp serve as a bridge for grieving children and adults over the summer while there are no counseling sessions offered.

The Day of Relief drew in more than 60 children, who took part in a variety of activities, including creating their own superhero sculptures.

For the first time, the summer day camp included an adult component. Attendees had the opportunity to take a yoga class and an art class at the Carnegie Arts Center during the camp session.
