POSTED July 31, 2014 5:34 p.m.

A Turlock man was arrested on allegations he held one teenager at knifepoint and threatened two others before slashing the tires of a vehicle and fleeing the area.

The suspect, identified as James Adams, 48, was apprehended by Turlock Police officers in the area of the vicinity and identified by the three juveniles as the man who threatened them, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

The incident was reported shortly before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of East Avenue.

The police department received a report of a man holding a knife to a teenage boy’s throat, Lewis said.

When officers arrived the boys told them the man had already fled. They stated the man held the knife up to one boy’s neck and brandished it at the other two. He also slashed the tires of a nearby vehicle before running off.

One juvenile sustained a cut to the finger during the incident.

It’s unknown what prompted the man to turn on the three teenagers.

The teenagers provided the officers with a description of the suspect and an individual, later identified as Adams, was found in an alley off of Rose Street.

Officers also found a knife thrown in the front yard of a home on Rose Street, Lewis said.

Once Adams was detained, the three juveniles positively identified him as the man who threatened them.

Adams was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a knife, and damaging property. He was also wanted for two unrelated narcotic warrants out of Turlock.
