Family becomes victims of home invasion robbers

POSTED January 22, 2010 11:43 p.m.
A Livingston family was tied up and threatened by four armed men Thursday afternoon during a home invasion robbery, the Merced County Sheriff’s Department reported.
The home invasion occurred around 1 p.m. Thursday in the 10000 block of Longview Road in Livingston. The four suspects all got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. None of the victims were injured during the ordeal, sheriff spokesman Deputy Tom MacKenzie said.
The primary victim, a 34-year old Hispanic male, owns a business in the Atwater area and recognized two of the suspects that showed up at his door. After speaking with them for a short time, one of the suspects left only to re-enter the house with a third suspect a moment later, MacKenzie said. When the third suspect came in, they forced the business owner to the ground while one of the other men brandished a handgun. At that point a fourth suspect entered the house and they began tying the family members up. Two of the suspects were armed with handguns while the other two tied up the primary victim and his 54-year-old father-in-law in the living room. The suspects did not tie up the wife so she could care for the 3-year-old daughter that was in the house, MacKenzie said.
The suspects then proceeded to search the house looking for valuables. While searching, a 45-year-old friend of the family arrived at the house and was forced inside at gunpoint and tied up with the other males, MacKenzie said.
The suspects were described as follows: Hispanic male in his 30s, about 5 feet, 3 inches tall, 200 pounds with short dark hair, unshaven, wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans. The second suspect was a Hispanic male approximately 34 years old, 5 feet, 2 inches tall and 220 pounds, unshaven, wearing an orange shirt. The third was a Hispanic male about 40 years old, 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 150 pounds, with brown hair pulled back into a bun and wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans. The last suspect was a Hispanic male about 45 years old, around 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and wearing a ball cap.
The vehicle they were driving was a Ford Explorer, unknown year, white with tan on the bottom.
The Merced County Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone with information about the case to call 385-7660.
